Terms of Use

AjanE | Watch ("we", "our", "the Service") is an AI-powered movie recommendation service that helps groups of people choose films to watch together. It is operated as an independent product and is currently in beta.

By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use AjanE | Watch.

You must be at least 18 years old to create a AjanE | Watch account. By registering you confirm that you meet this requirement.

One account may represent a household. You are responsible for all activity carried out under your account, including the creation and management of watcher profiles for other members of your household, who may be minors.

You must keep your login credentials secure and notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorised access.

AjanE | Watch allows you to create watcher profiles for individuals in your group, including children and teenagers (collectively "minor viewers"). These profiles may include:

• Display name
• Year of birth
• Gender
• Language preference
• Liked and disliked genres
• Preferred films, actors, and directors
• Free-text notes about viewing preferences

By creating a profile for a minor viewer you confirm that you are that person's parent or legal guardian, or have explicit consent from their parent or guardian, and that you authorise the processing of that profile data as described in these Terms.

Profile data is used solely to generate personalised movie recommendations for your group. We do not use it for advertising, profiling beyond the Service, or any purpose unrelated to movie recommendations.

We collect and store the following categories of data:

• Account data: your name, email address, region, and selected streaming platforms — stored securely in Supabase, our cloud database and authentication provider.
• Watcher profiles: the profile information listed in Section 3, stored in our database and linked to your account.
• Watchlist: films you have saved or marked as watched, along with per-viewer ratings (1–5 stars) and optional notes.
• Recommendation history: the AI-generated movie picks from each session, including which profiles they were generated for.

We do not collect payment information, browsing history outside the Service, or device identifiers beyond those set by our infrastructure providers.

The core function of AjanE | Watch is to use an AI model to generate a personalised movie bank for each watcher profile, and to select picks from that bank at recommendation time. The following data is transmitted to our AI provider (OpenAI) when generating or refreshing your recommendations:

• Watcher profile information (name, year of birth, gender, language preference, genre preferences, liked movies/actors/directors, notes)
• Titles of films the profile has previously watched and rated, along with their ratings

This data is sent as a structured text prompt to OpenAI's API. OpenAI may process this data in accordance with their own terms and privacy policy. We encourage you to review OpenAI's policies at openai.com.

We do not send your email address, password, or payment details to OpenAI.

AjanE | Watch relies on the following third-party services to operate:

• Supabase — database, file storage, and authentication. Your account data and all stored records are held on Supabase infrastructure. See supabase.com/privacy.
• OpenAI — AI model used to generate personalised movie banks and recommendations. Profile and watch history data is sent to OpenAI when generating your picks. See openai.com/policies/privacy-policy.
• The Movie Database (TMDB) — used to fetch movie posters, age certifications, and metadata. No personal data is sent to TMDB; only movie titles and years are queried. See themoviedb.org/privacy-policy.

We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third parties. We select and use them because they are reputable providers with strong data protection commitments.

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You may delete your account at any time from the Account settings page. Account deletion permanently removes:

• All watcher profiles associated with your account
• Your complete watchlist and ratings history
• All stored recommendation sessions
• Your account credentials

Deletion is irreversible. We do not retain copies of deleted data beyond what may exist in automated short-term backups, which are purged on a rolling basis.

You agree not to:

• Use the Service to generate recommendations for groups you are not a legitimate part of
• Attempt to abuse or circumvent the Service's recommendation system through automated or scripted means
• Reverse-engineer, scrape, or otherwise extract data from the Service
• Use the Service for any commercial purpose without our written permission
• Provide false information, including about your age or your authority to create profiles for minors

AjanE | Watch is currently in beta. This means the Service is provided as-is, without guarantees of uptime, accuracy of recommendations, or fitness for a particular purpose. We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time without prior notice.

AI-generated recommendations reflect the model's output at the time of generation. We do not guarantee that suggestions are appropriate for all audiences — you should exercise your own judgement, particularly when minor viewers are involved.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, AjanE | Watch and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service, including but not limited to data loss, unsuitable content recommendations, or service interruption.

Our total liability to you for any claim arising from use of the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim (which during the free beta period is zero).

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

For material changes we will attempt to notify you by email or via an in-app notice.
